GATEWAY
SERVICES

Authorize.net is one of the easiest, fastest
and most secure ways to process transactions from the Internet,
mail, telephone, or point of sale. Authorize.net allows a business
owner to process a credit card or check without a terminal and
without the credit card and check present. There
are two options that a business owner has for processing credit
card and check (ACH) transactions from customers: Virtual Terminal
or WebLink.
Virtual
Terminal
The Virtual Terminal allows a business owner
to manually authorize and process credit card and check transactions
from any computer
with an Internet connection. The Virtual Terminal replaces an
authorization terminal and enables a business owner to process
a transaction without the credit card or check present. The business
owner only needs the necessary information from the credit card
or check and consumer to input into a computer which is connected
to internet.
A
business owner with an account will access the Virtual Terminal
at Authorize.Net. After logging on to the system with the user
ID and password, the business owner will complete an electronic
form that provides the Authorize.Net system with the information
it needs to complete the transaction. Once the information is
entered into the computer, Authorize.Net will send the business
owner a confirmation that the transaction was completed within
10 seconds. Transactions are automatically settled each day and
funded within 2-3 days. The money will then be wired to the business
bank account.
Business
owners can check the status of transactions, automatically bill
customers for recurring charges, or run reports from the Authorize.Net
Virtual Terminal.
WebLink
WebLink allows Internet-based businesses
to authorize and process credit card transactions without the
business owner entering customer and credit card information.
When customers areonline and are ready to purchase products or
services from the web site, WebLink either captures the necessary
information (name, credit card number, etc.) from the site's own
secure transaction page or displays a standard WebLink transaction
page, hosted on an Authorize.Net server, for the customer to fill
out. When the authorization process is complete, the customer
receives an approval or decline response, and the Authorize.Net
server stores the transaction. The business owner is then notified
of the transaction. Transactions are automatically settled each
day and funded within 2-3 days to the business owner's bank account.
Business
owners can check the status of transactions, automatically bill
customers for recurring charges, or run reports from the Authorize.Net
Terminal.

Electronic Check Payments
- ACH Payments
eCheck
is an online payment service that allows business owners to accept
and process electronic check payments either directly from their
website automatically or manually through the Virtual Terminal.
Automatically
eCheck
allows online businesses to accept checks for payment from customers
over the Internet. Customers who wish to pay for a purchase with
an electronic check can select the electronic check option on
the payment page and enter the requested bank account information.
The system debits the consumer's account via the Automated Clearing
House (ACH) and transfers the funds to the business owner's account.
If the account numbers are entered incorrectly or the account
has insufficient funds, the eCheck system notifies the business
owner.
Manually
Business
owners without commerce-enabled Web sites can also use eCheck
to process payments. The bank account information is entered manually
by the business owner. Customer approval is always recommended,
and the business owner must sign a separate eCheck ACH agreement
to perform these types of transactions.
Receipt of Funds
Each
transaction takes approximately 48 hours to clear. Business owners
should wait five days from the initial transaction date before
shipping any goods because it takes two days to debit the consumer's
account, two days to deposit the funds into the business owner's
account, and one day for the bank to post the transaction. Due
to the five day delay, eCheck should not be used by business owner's
who sell soft or digital goods that are normally downloaded immediately
upon completion of the sale.
FRAUD
AND CHARGEBACK PREVENTION / BORDER CONTROL TECHNOLOGY
GFS
will assist your company in obtaining Internet risk management
technology that allows the merchant to control their potential
risk of chargebacks and fraud.
The technology enables the merchant the ability to review each
transactions on an individual basis and to digitally ban a person,
IP, and Host from accessing the site if it is considered high
risk.
Prior
to card authorization, the technology initiates a real-time risk
assessment of the transaction (processing speed is typically less
than a second). An overall risk score is calculated as well as
a score for each individual profile component. If the overall
score exceeds the merchant's predefined threshold, the transaction
is rejected and the merchant and cardholder are notified. This
allows merchants to manage on-line risk and reduce costly chargebacks.
Some of the available parameters that you can select are as follows:
| Fraud/Chargeback
Prevention Parameters |
| User Authentication |
| Address Verification |
| Host Determination |
| IP Determination |
| E-mail Determination |
| Velocity Controls |
| Border Control |
